“The fjord can’t breathe. Now the breeders want to collect all the waste that would otherwise go straight into the sea.” Was published in Norwegian newspaper BT recently the Norwegian company Lift Up plays a central role in improving the environment.
Our primary motivation is to figure out what the fish farmer can do to reduce the impact from organic loading they have on the environment and determine if the waste can be utilized as a resource, says Jarle Ragnhildstveit from Lift Up.
We anticipated that our fully automated back-to-barge pumping system, collecting morts from the cage bottom also would be durable for sludge removal. We have proven to remove about 50% of the sludge in Atlantic salmon net pens. Waste that would normally go straight into the fjord has now been caught, pumped up to the barge, filtered and solids have been collected.
